New Years 2016 Part 1

Happy (almost) New Years!! I want to thank all my readers and everyone who has supported the start up of my blog in 2015!DSC_0058 I feel like A Girl and Her Husky has come a long way since I started in June, and there is still so much more room for growth and learning. I owe it all to the people who take the time to read my posts and encourage me to keep on writing and reviewing.

Today I wanted to discuss a very common New Years topic: New Year Resolutions. Now you might have a few questions, such as ‘what do New Year resolutions have to do with dogs’, or ‘do you really believe in New Years Resolutions?’ Well pretty much any general topic like this can be (and should be!) expanded to include dogs. I also think that you can make the choice to better yourself or your life any time, not just at New Years. Whether you stick to it or not is up to you. Not to say you are failure if you do not keep your resolution (I am sure we have all been there!). The key is making SMART resolutions. S-specific, M-measurable, A- achievable, R- realistic, and T- Timely. DSC_0118

Now if you are like me, I am not a huge fan of fitness or weight loss resolutions for the New Years. If that is your thing, then more power to you. I just believe that health and taking care of myself should be something I should always work towards. Of course, not all people are this way and may need to extra motivation to reach a healthier lifestyle.

When I am trying to think of New Years Resolutions, I think about what I would like my next year to look like (realistically) and what I can do to make it happen. This year I also thought of how I could include Gracie in my resolutions and what I want the next year to look like for her.  Maybe finally pass the Canine Good Citizen Test? Go on more hikes together?
Walk everyday instead of just playing in the backyard? d08fd5a4ac6306540d4c13dd696c4708Over the next few days I plan on coming up with a short list of things that Gracie and I could do together to make 2016 a PAWesome year. I will share my list on Friday for your thoughts.

What are some New Years Resolutions you have for your pets?

Thanks for reading!
