March 26th is #PurpleDay for Epilepsy Awareness. Unfortunately Epilepsy is common in Siberian Huskies. My girl Gracie has been fighting Epilepsy for 6 years now. While Epileptic dogs can still live full and happy lives, it can be very scary and heartbreaking to see them go through it. The first time I saw Gracie have a seizure I thought that she was dying. Upon taking her to the vet I learned that while she was not dying, she did have Epilepsy. Over the years with help from our vet and through talking with other owners of Epileptic dogs, Gracie’s seizures have become less frequent and much more mild.
Have you ever encountered or owned a dog with Canine Epilepsy? Feel free to share the dog’s story below. Sharing their stories helps for others to become aware of Canine Epilepsy and learn what to do if they were to ever encounter a dog having a seizure. We also have much we can learn from each other’s experiences with the disease.
Thanks for reading!
