We met the Wellness team at the Global Pet Expo this year and got to learn all about their CORE RawRev dog food. If you are familiar with Wellness CORE, you will know that this kibble is high in protein, grain free, and comprised of majority meat. Wellness CORE RawRev takes that premium kibble and adds in the nutritious freeze dried raw.
What I liked about Wellness CORE RawRev:
There are a few things that I look for in a dry food for Echo. Since Echo is a very active young dog, I like to feed him food that is high in protein from meat. I like for the first three ingredients to at least be from meat. I avoid any vague animal sources (animal fat, animal meal, bone meal etc) and any by-product meals, as these ingredients can indicate lower quality or mystery meat is being used. I also like to find foods with some type of fish oil for fatty acids and added glucosamine and chondroitin for healthy joints. Wellness CORE RawRev had all of these things and much more, so I was very excited to try it out with Echo. I really love that this food has the freeze dried raw blended in. I believe that raw food is more nutritious and natural for dogs. However, not everyone can feed their dog a raw diet, so a dry kibble like Wellness CORE RawRev is great for getting a little raw into your dog’s diet.
What Echo thought about Wellness CORE RawRev:
As you may remember, Echo has a pretty sensitive stomach. However, I did not notice any stomach upset when switching Echo to Wellness CORE RawRev and he did not have any problems while eating it. He seemed to really get excited about the RawRev food during meal time. The formula we tried was turkey and chicken based, which Echo seemed to really like. I would be interested in trying him on the duck and lamb “Wild Game” recipe as well.
Our final thoughts on Wellness CORE RawRev:
I would definitely feed this food to Echo again. He did really well on it and seemed to enjoy it. I also love that it is a really healthy food packed with nutrients that he needs. I would recommend this food to anyone with an active dog of any size, since it is high protein.
BONUS: Wellness CORE treats
We also got to try out a few of the Wellness CORE treats in addition to the food. Echo absolutely loved the CORE Marrow Roasts beef treats. The Marrow Roasts are grain free treats with a biscuit on the outside and marrow on the inside. They are also grain free and free of artificial colors and flavors. Gracie unfortunately couldn’t take part in this review since she cannot have rosemary extract. However, the CORE 100% freeze dried treats are single ingredient, so Gracie could eat them! They have actually become her favorite treats for training. I had been having a hard time finding a training treat that she liked and happened to have the Wellness 100% freeze dried treats with me in my bag, and she loved them!
